### pH Meter
**Product Description:**
Measures pH on a scale of 6.2 to 7.5.
The pH meter should be used for maintenance in tanks, making production more efficient and reducing risks.
**Usage Indication:**
Use weekly, or whenever the fish display unusual behavior.
It is important to check the pH before and after partial water changes, as sudden changes are stressful for the fish.
If the pH reading is different from the expected value, contact us for technical support or seek a specialized professional.
**Why Measure pH?**
The acidity or alkalinity states of an aqueous solution are related to the concentration of positively charged hydrogen ions (H+) interacting with negatively charged hydroxide ions (OH-). By checking the hydrogen ion potential, or pH, it is possible to determine the water's acidity or alkalinity state. pH is quantified on a numerical scale from 0 to 14, with 7 being the neutral point or equilibrium between the charges.
Values below 7 indicate a predominance of H+ ions over OH-, indicating an acidic state, while values above 7 indicate an alkaline state, with the opposite ion concentration situation. The acceptable pH for tank water for most freshwater fish ranges from 6.0 to 7.8, with the ideal pH between 6.8 and 7.2. Before introducing fish to your tank, it is advisable to get a technician's opinion on the ideal pH for your production, as the ideal pH can vary for each fish species.
**Instructions for Use:**
1. Fill the test tube to the mark with water from the tank to be tested.
2. Add three drops of the reagent solution, cap the tube, and shake.
3. After 2 minutes, compare the developed color with the color scale provided on the back. For the best comparison, place the open test tube against the most appropriate color on the scale and read from above. Each color shade corresponds to a specific pH.
- Preferably read under natural light. For better comparison, place the open test tube on the white circle and observe from above.
**Product Care:**
- After each test, immediately wash the test tube with clean water and keep it closed. This care is crucial as an unclean test tube can alter the color of subsequent tests, causing reading errors.
- To ensure the efficiency of the tests, always keep the reagent solution bottle tightly closed.
**Usage Limitations:**
The test result reading may be distorted if the tested water is treated with color-developing products. Simultaneous use with such products is not recommended.
**How to Correct Water pH:**
Use pH adjusters to correct excessive alkalinity or acidity. Extreme pH changes occur due to abnormal water conditions or objects placed in the tank, such as alkaline gravel from limestone sources or excessive acidifying roots. Sometimes, monitoring and correcting the pH alone is not sufficient.
**Number of Tests:**
- 60 tests.
